With a mission to provide consumers with environmentally friendly products boasting unique designs, Petlinks strives to create a harmonious balance between playfulness and sustainability.
One of their toys, the Cheese Chaser, is an interactive remote-controlled mouse designed to enrich your cat's life. By activating their natural hunting instincts, this engaging toy puts the excitement of a mouse chase directly into the owner’s hands. Moreover, it encourages your cat to stay active, combining the joy of play with essential exercise for their well-being.
Problem:
The current product contradicts the company's commitment to eco-friendly packaging by excessively using plastic and over-packaging their product.
Goal:
Design vibrant packaging that distinctively stands out from other brands while actively advocating for the Petlink's mission of enhancing a cat's lifestyle through eco-friendly toys.

Low-Fidelity Prototypes:
Crafted from paper and held together with tape, three low-fidelity prototypes were developed. Each prototype originated as a sketch before evolving into a working prototype, providing users with a hands-on experience to explore potential packaging options.
Version 1:
This design closely resembles the original packaging, featuring a conventional appearance. An open window eliminates the need for plastic. However, despite the absence of plastic, this design still requires many materials. The mice are securely held within the box by straps wrapped around the product.
Version 2:
Utilizing minimal material, this design incorporates an open window for customers to view the product. In this prototype, the top is covered, resulting in a snug fit for the mice. However, visibility is compromised, and there is a risk of the product being turned around, rendering the window ineffective.
Version 3:
This design employs a moderate amount of material, falling between the second and first versions in terms of usage. While it currently lacks a window, one could be easily incorporated if desired. The mice are securely enclosed and the lack of a preview gives the packaging the appearance of a mousetrap, introducing an element of surprise to the overall design.
Design Elements:
Using elements such as points, lines, planes, patterns, shapes, graphics, and forms taken from the original product and its existing packaging, design elements inspired by the brand were created. These were strategically placed to decorate both the interior and exterior of the box, ensuring a visually cohesive and appealing presentation.
